In Kos, opposite Knidos, two temples in the Aphrodite sanctuary at the harbor are archaeologically proven: Aphrodite pandemos and Aphrodite pontia were worshiped in the same area, each in her own temple, dated to the mid-3rd century BC.

Sheep and goats were among the most popular sacrifice animals in Antiquity. Nowadays they can spread a peaceful atmosphere at ancient sites. What is seen here is not possible anymore since the temple was subject to renovation and is fenced now - including a ticketing office. Photo taken 2017.
